Pediatric functional medicine intake · 60–75 minutes

The first visit where your child's whole story finally gets time.

The initial intake is a 60-75 minute pediatric functional medicine visit for families who need time to map symptoms, timeline, food, gut, sleep, infections, environment, medications, prior labs, and what has already been tried.

Who this is for.

The initial intake is for parents who are ready for a real clinical workup. Maybe your child has chronic constipation, reflux, eczema, ADHD, sudden anxiety, recurrent infections, food reactions, PANS/PANDAS concerns, Lyme or mold exposure, or symptoms that nobody has connected yet.

Most families should still start with the free 15-minute consult first. That call helps us confirm whether Calm Wellness is the right fit before you spend money on a full visit.

What happens during the intake.

This visit gives us time to build the map:

  • When symptoms started and what changed around that time.
  • Gut patterns: stool, reflux, appetite, food reactions, bloating, picky eating, and abdominal pain.
  • Immune patterns: eczema, allergies, asthma, recurrent strep, ear infections, congestion, or slow recovery after illness.
  • Brain and behavior patterns: attention, sleep, anxiety, tics, OCD, headaches, migraines, sensory load, mood, and school stamina.
  • Environmental history: mold, water damage, tick exposure, home changes, travel, medications, and toxin load.
  • Prior labs, specialist notes, medication history, supplements, diets, and what has already helped or failed.

Parents leave the visit with a clearer explanation of what may be driving the symptoms and what the next clinical step should be.

What you may leave with.

Depending on the case, the next step may be:

  • A targeted testing plan.
  • A GI Reset Mini Package if the main driver appears gut-related.
  • The 4-Month Concierge Package for complex multi-system cases.
  • A lifestyle and nutrition plan.
  • A recommendation to involve your pediatrician, specialist, therapist, psychiatrist, allergist, gastroenterologist, or another clinician first.

We will recommend the container that fits your child’s situation.

What to bring.

Bring what you have:

  • Current medications and supplements.
  • Prior labs or specialist notes.
  • A rough timeline of symptoms, infections, moves, exposures, diet changes, medications, and major stressors.
  • School notes, behavior reports, growth concerns, or photos of rashes if relevant.
  • Your top two or three questions.

If the story is complicated, that is fine. The visit exists to help organize it.

Cost.

The free consult helps confirm whether the initial intake is the right next step before you book a paid visit. We explain the visit length, cost, HSA/FSA details, and superbill options before you schedule.

Lab costs are separate unless a package specifically states otherwise. Lab fees and supplements are discussed separately before families order them.

Fit and boundaries.

  • Emergency symptoms belong with urgent care, emergency care, or the appropriate specialist.
  • Your child’s pediatrician stays involved.
  • Complex chronic conditions usually need several visits.
  • Medication changes should involve the prescribing clinician.

The initial intake is the clinical starting point: enough time to see the pattern and decide what to do next.
